This is incredibly relevant.
Show them love, kindness, humility and respect. If they have hurt you or brought you down, find the love in your heart to forgive them. Just like us they too are humans, forgiveness is the key.
Ultimately you only have one set of parents and a very short time on earth.
 Love.

I always pray that when my parents reach old age, I have the kind of patience to treat them with love and kindness, like they had for me when I was a child.

CAKE TIME!

I was feeling like crap yesterday, so I decided to make something! And boy, was it a good idea. Since I’m off work(I work at Starbucks) I missed having the Banana Chocolate Chip Cake there, but those go for over 400 calories! So I made my own! It tasted so good. Both my mom and youngest brother approve!

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 large egg (or 1/4 cup egg whites)
  • 1/4 cup non-fat or 2% milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup white flour
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • pinch cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • 6 tbsp dark chocolate chips
  • PAM spray

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Mix banana*, egg, and milk together. Add sugar. Mix.
*I peeled and froze my bananas, then let them thaw. Made it easier to mix.
  3. Combine both flours, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in seperate bold.
  4. Add flour mixture to egg mixture and mix well.
  5. Add 5 tbsp chocolate chips and stir.
  6. Spray cake or muffin pan with PAM.
  7. Pour batter into cake pan. If using muffin pan, pour about 3/4s full.
  8. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
  9. Bake on middle rack for 20-25 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven and cool before serving.
  11. Eat up and enjoy the heck out of it!

*My little brother had his with peanut butter, which also tastes really good!

Makes 12 pieces/muffins
Calories: 110, Fat: 3.2g, Carb: 18.6g, Protein: 2.6g

And of course, ingredients can be substituted for even more healthier choices. (ex. Stevia instead of sugar)

dare-to-be-healthy:

Wanna lose weight extra fast? Don’t have enough time to just eat clean and exercise?

There are a few simple rules you can follow if you want to lose weight extremely fast. It will not be easy but it will get you results, it won’t cost you your muscles, just your fat!

  1. Ditch the fruit.

I can’t even explain the amount of stupid in this post. And yes, this WILL cost you muscle loss, not fat loss, AND it’ll more than likely malnourish you. In fact, reading this I feel like I’m looking at another VSThinspiration “meal plan” (which I’ve already debunked here, and seems to contain some of the same information or concepts of “quick and healthy, not-muscle loosing weight loss) -rolls her eyes- Now, on to some education and correction:

1. DON’T ditch the fruit. The sugar in fruit is healthy, naturally occurring sugars. Your body DOES need sugar in some capacity to survive, considering it’s a primary fuel source (in fact, both Glucose AND Fructose are found in fruit and naturally occurring Fructose has been proven to give your body larger amounts of energy than any other type of sugar). Another thing? Guess what’s primarily in all those vegetables you’re eating too? Cellulose and Lignin (which make up the cell walls in plants) which are nothing more lang long, super bonded strands of SUGARS. What you want to cut out are over processed sugars like white sugar, high fructose corn syrup and artificial sweeteners, which do MORE harm to your body than good.

2. Protein SHOULD be a primary and important staple in a diet. At least you got that part right, thank the Goddess. HOWEVER, I have some massive problems with your statement “your body will not store it- it will pee it out (intensive yellow pee) so there is no way for you to gain weight/fat by eating this.” Calories are calories are calories. No, your body may not store protein, but if you over eat, you’re still going to gain weight, especially if your diet is primarily protein dense considering protein dense foods are usually also calorie dense as well. Granted, you SHOULD still be eating between 1,500 and 2,000 calories a day for basic organ health and overall body function, but your ignorance about calories in that one statement (hell, this whole post in general just shows your ignorance) is just completely astounding.

3. 2.2L of water IS more than enough for your body unless you’re extremely active. Your body may be able to process up to 27 litres of water, but that doesn’t mean you should be consuming and consuming and consuming it. Water intake should be based off of your age, activity level and the environment you live in. It would also take WAY more than a single cup of coffee or a single cup of tea to dehydrate you, so unless you’re downing 12 cups of either a day, drinking more than 2.2L is unnecessary for the most part and drinking more than that fairly quickly without being properly nourished can lead to water intoxication, which is both deadly and extremely damaging to your body (as, you know, it causes brain damage and all.

4. Exercising isn’t going to do you ANY good if you don’t take rest days. Your muscle and fatloss doesn’t happen the day of your workout, it happens when your body is resting. Sure, you should be exercising a minimum of 20 minutes a day, but if you’re trying to loose weight and “pumping it up to 45-60 minutes” or more, and not getting at least TWO rest days it’s not going to do shit for you.

5. While it’s agreed that sleeping 7-8 hours a night is better, sleeping More will not make you hungrier. Your body slows down and goes into a sort of hibernation state while you sleep in order to repair body function and reserve energy supplies. Your body actually uses LESS energy as you sleep, so you burn calories slower, which leads to more of your energy store being available when you wake up than there would be if you stayed up all night or didn’t take that nap. And on top of it, taking a 20 minute to 1 hour nap every day has actually been proven to have health benefits, so an extra few hours certainly won’t kill you, especially if you’re tired. Sleeping less will definitely make you “hungrier” because your body needs more than the usual fuel to keep you going.

6. Fasting is a mixed subject. It generally SHOULD NOT be done without medical guidance, even for “short periods of time”. First off, you have to make sure your body is well equipped and nourished to handle it, fasting when you’re already malnourished (which you probably will be if you follow this ridiculous plan) does more harm than good and puts your body into starvation mode in which, guess what, it consumes muscle first because it’s generally the most nutrient rich and dense material it can find within the body AND is loaded with Glucose… and, you know, will also SLOW DOWN YOUR METABOLISM IN ORDER TO CONSERVE ENERGY BECAUSE YOUR BODY WILL BE UNSURE WHEN THE NEXT TIME IT WILL GET FOOD WILL BE. If you’re malnourished enough when you start a fast, even a short period fast of 2-3 days can lead to quick organ failure, hair loss, lethargy, anemia, hypoglycemia and SEVERAL other problems and it DEFINITELY won’t “clear your skin, make you feel more energetic and more “alive” and INCREASES your metabolism”. Also, I find it highly ironic that you suggest only “drinking water and/or coffee/tea” when you were just telling them to drink extra water if they drink coffee or tea because it’ll dehydrate you and “2.2L just isn’t good enough”.

7. You.. I just can’t even… “And don’t believe in that crap that you should eat every 2-3 hours. Complete bull. There has been made thousands of tests on people eating 1-2 meals a day and people eating 5-6 meals a day and they ALL spent the same amount of calories! They all had the same amount of calories the whole day, just one group had 1 let’s say binge, while the other group had 5 small meals… Honestly, just google it, and you’ll find out the truth.” Maybe YOU should really learn how to use google. Yes, studies have shown that eating every 2-3 hours has very little difference on weight loss and calories spent. HOWEVER, plenty of studies have shown that people who eat every 2-3 hours are 1. More likely to eat scientifically correct portions, 2. Have more complete diets, 3. Have higher stores of overall energy throughout the day and less bouts of Lethargy and 4. Are less likely to binge or overeat at their next meal. So yeah… I’m going to say that every 2-3 hours is a little better. Sorry.

8. If you’re not allergic to it and you don’t have any real medical problems with it, don’t cut it out. Period. Especially when it’s a good source of vitamins, minerals and other things. Also, unless you have an allergy, a dietary sensitivity or a medical problem associated with dairy, you’re generally NOT going to bloat or gain weight because of it.

Sometimes I just REALLY want to smack the stupid out of people. You’re right, DARE TO BE HEALTHY. And that includes getting correct information and not spewing a bunch of bullshit. How about you dare to be healthy AND get accurate information.

If you’re peeing out proteins, you’re consuming too many and overworking your kidneys. That’s not weight loss; that’s pathology. Get it right.

I certainly hope the whole “That’s not weight loss; that’s pathology. Get it right.” wasn’t directed at me. I’ve done my best to give accurate information to the best of my ability. No one’s perfect or unfalable. But thank you for the information. I had no idea about that -runs off to correct the post-

No, I totally agree with everything you said; it was intended for the person you quoted about peeing out proteins… I was backing you up with scientific info :)
